Mixed Colours is a Birmingham-based mobile cocktail bar — pop-up bars brought to any event, anywhere in the UK, for anything from 50 to 500 guests. The brand is all about flair, flavour and bringing people together, with an all-inclusive, all-colours experience that runs from premium cocktails right through to fully alcohol-free menus.
The brief
Mixed Colours came to us for a complete refresh. The old site didn't capture the energy of the brand or reflect the quality of what they actually deliver on the day — and, critically, it gave prospective clients no easy way to understand what a bar would cost for their specific event.
Every enquiry meant a manual back-and-forth: how many guests, how long, where, what extras. Theo wanted a site that looked as bold as the bars themselves and did the heavy lifting on quoting — without handing pricing control to a developer every time a cost needed to change.
Our approach
We rebuilt the site from the ground up — hand-coded in Next.js, designed around the brand rather than a template. The result is dark, neon-bright and unapologetically vibrant, with a rainbow identity that runs through every section.
A brand-first refresh
- A bespoke, fully responsive design built around the Mixed Colours identity — bold display type, animated colour accents and a premium dark theme
- Clear journeys for the things that matter: the menu, the service, the gallery, and getting in touch
- Social proof woven in throughout — live reviews, Instagram and TikTok feeds keeping the site fresh on its own
Build-A-Bar — the interactive quote engine
The centrepiece is Build-A-Bar: a step-by-step tool that turns a vague enquiry into a precise, itemised quote in real time. The complexity under the hood is what the client called “unheard of”.
- Guests: a slider from 50 to 500 — the bar visual and staffing scale up live (2m to 6m bars, 2 to 10 staff), with per-head pricing that tapers as numbers grow
- Duration, travel & setup: event length, postcode-based mileage (first 15 miles free) and early-setup hours all feed the total automatically
- Custom extras: bespoke menus, personalised bars, premium spirits by the bottle, drinks receptions and alcohol-free options — each priced and itemised on the fly
- Always-visible breakdown: a running, transparent cost breakdown so customers see exactly what they're paying for at every step
An admin calculator Theo controls
- Every number Build-A-Bar uses lives in a passcode-protected admin calculator — per-head rates, mileage, setup fees, extras and spirit prices
- Theo can retune pricing himself in seconds, with no developer involved and no risk of the quote engine drifting out of date
- The same admin area manages the menu, gallery and reviews — so the site stays current without touching code
